Nick at Fisherman’s World also had good things to say about the lower Housatonic. One of his customers, Luke Tucciarone, landed a few keeper striped bass on the hot Alabama rig, including one that went 36-inches!"
Herring in late February? That's madness! |
Maybe there's Stripers feeding on the herring. Where did you get this report? |

Madness?....not really when you consider the warm winter we've had - even the DEEP is releasing trout early this year because they are 20% larger than normal this time of year - same concept used for saltwater fish....it's warmer, so they're more active and most fish that put on thermal underwear this time of year are hanging out for the warmer water temps.
Madness?....nah! |

Hit the Housy sat night with crest daddy and pulled out a bunch of schoolies while I only got 1 little bullhead. Went last night and got a 32 striper and a 26 1/2"er then went to another spot and threw chunks till morning and caught 5 or 6 8 lb channel cats. _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

Fished up by the dam a bit Saturday and this morning. Nada on Saturday, with high water. Saw two keepers landed today and another dropped on high, outgoing tide. I got nada again. Herring are chasing swimmers, so maybe the bite is on soon. |

Was at the dam again this morning - it's a great time of year for a vacation - and saw a few keepers being carried through the parking lot. That made me feel pretty good. Three hours later, I got one good bite and lost the SOB just before I could get him out of the water. I was three feet away from dinner! No one else hooked up while I was there. Tons of herring and even some shad. Oh well, I'll probably try again tonight. |

What time this morning? I went there without checking the tide chart this morning like a dope. At 4am I could almost walk across without getting wet! LOL I then proceeded to the other side of O Sullivans only to find a thick layer of debris and scum coating the whole area. I gave up at that point! _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

High tide was 10:12 - great time for fishing. I got there at 9:30 and stayed around till about noon. I'll be heading back a bit this evening. |
