Anybody catching stripers on the shelton side of the dam? Been getting skunked alot lately. Any input on choice of lures that have been working well there would be greatly appreciated! |

Skunked there myself for like the last week straight. Had 1 smaller 1 on Friday night but had a cheap split ring on my Rapala and it gave way. Stupid me for putting it on!!! My buddy hooked up 3 times the other night with a bomber and lost them all! It was brand new so its not like the trebles were dull or anything. He knows how to fish for stripers very well also so it was just crap luck. Ive been up there pretty much every other night and there is a very small window where a few people hook up and then it just shuts back down. _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

Ive even been getting skunked on northbars! I've only used an all black & a black with orange sides northbar. Maybe i need to try different color variations? Heading out there whenever this rain stops! Hopefully with this rain the dam will be running |

Dam was running decent last night and I threw out a white Northbar for awhile with no bites on it. For the most part it wasnt raining but there were a few downpours and sprinkles thrown in there. _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

Its most likely due to hours Im there also. For the most part Im going after work which is from 4:00 but I usually stay till 10 during the week. Weekends I go and stay much later and have a better catching ratio. Im gonna start going before work if the tide is right and also hope the water is running then also. That being said bunker are around now and will be going other places on weekends to do some snagging and live lining! _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

Short trip this morning..hooked up fishing bottoms with sandworms and on the first hook up of the day had a fish strip all my line right off my pole. Needless to say i wasnt a very happy fisherman! |

How much and what lb line did you have on? Spent 3 1/2 hours plugging tonight and right as they shut the water I hooked a 35"er! _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

Just put on fresh 65 pound test braid 150 yards. Bait was sitting at the point of the island where you can see the sand bar during low tide and just took off. Caught me by suprise because eveyone was getting skunked. It took off towards the shelton derby bridge and never looked back! |

You couldnt stop it with 65 lb braid on? Not sure I understand there! Id let the fish break my line before Id let it spool me. That being saix thatd why I use a 6000 reel with 300 yards but typically Im fishing in the fast current so you want a little more line so you can pkay him a little to wear him down instead of horsing him. I use 40 lb braid with 50 flouro leader. _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....
