I had some luck at Spring Pond Friday with a white and red marabou jig fished very slowly. One decent bass and a good-sized perch in maybe an hour or so of trying from shore.

Nice to hear someone got an LMB, where is spring pond located?

It's also known as Fisher Meadow's in Avon... It's on the road that leads to Avon Old Farms (you can reach it off of Route 10 in Farmington/Avon). A lot of guys go there and it's a nice place. I've caught and seen others catch some pretty nice fish out of there.

I'd imagine you're getting pickerel because they're more comfortable than bass at these water temps... In my experience pickerel rely on eyesight a bit more and it gets a little harder to catch them as it gets darker out, so I'm not sure I'd attribute that to going out in the evening.

I caught my bass in the evening after work... Probably around 6:30 or so by the time it bit. It was also day 2 of the 60+ degree heat wave though. I was working a marabou very, very slowly... I used the white and red color of a marabou variation very close to this:
