I usually go with a suspending jerk bait (Rapala husky jerk) and a boo yah jig. Ihavent been out yet but I was wondering what most of you guys here use and have you fished open water at all yet this year?

My kayak is still in storage at my parents cottage, but there is a decent pond locally I might try out on Saturday with the warm weather. We will see.

Husky jerk, or countdown minnow, and/or drop shot. I'll probably try both if the bite is slow.

Yup husky jerk is always a go to at this ill probably end up jigging rock piles if the Rapalas arent producing

I plan to go out this weekend too.... Not to sure maybe Konolds than derby or vise versa.... for bass i like the HJ Raps. they work great for early season... so do slow retrieve spinner baits.

I think its safe to say we make Rapala some profit haha spinnerbait though Ive never tried them early season,a ctually come to think of it I rarley use spinnerbaits as crazy as it sounds

I don't really use spinnerbaits either. Though I do plan on using them a bit more this year.

lipless crankbaits...mmmm bass love em this time of year! Smile get yourself some different sizes (1/4 1/2 even 3/4) and colors (red, chrome gold and black) get them down into the grass and work the bait nice and slow...with a steady retrieve its my favorite way to catch ice out fish

Cranks are always good, my favorite are the small strike king 'lil mister money' that lure catches anything year round. It seems black and gold is probably the best choice for almost anything Very Happy too bad I havent really found any soft plastics that make the combination well

I was throwing a Rapala husky jerk yesterday with good success.
