OK I'll adjust, 6 to 7 weeks if we have a normal fall. Usually someone is on the ice the last weekend in November. Not saying that the ice doesn't go to crap a week later but in a normal year you can find ice. Now we just need a lil faith.
Oh by the way if we have global warming our ice season will improve, How you ask it's easy ' Earth warms, Glaciers melt, Cooling Atlantic ocean, Warm ocean currents don't come as far north. Causing stabler cooler weather and shorter growing seasons. |

I'm keeping my hope alive for safe ice. 5 of the last 7 years I've walked on ice Thanksgiving weekend. And you have to excuse me but I take the whole Global Warming thing with a little suspicion. Even Al Gore gave up on it. |

I see I'm not the only one that follows Blaine's lead. I'm crossing my fingers it all comes together this year and we can get a Thanksgiving/First week of December start. |

Looks like Sandy made a big difference in the polar jet stream and winds. Areas of the northern half of the state will get below freezing for the next few nights.
Another system to consider is that high pressure that blocked Sandy from heading out to sea. That might mean we'll have a Greenland Block on our hands this winter! |
