Well...I'm not familiar with either one to tell you the truth. I can tell you that I am very happy with my Quantum rods though.

Save up a little more money and get a St. Croix Premier 7ft Med Action bait casting rod.

Go with the Mojo! Warranty is awesome! I've broken three and all were replaced for a $20 shipping charge. All three broke because I left them in the bed of my truck. Not defects.

Here are the St. Croix Service & Warranty Policies from its website:
Quote:
SILVER STAR SERVICE PLAN
The fact that you’re reading this probably means you’ve got a damaged rod. Rest assured that our goal is to get you fishing with it again as soon as possible. Now, if you’re convinced that our error led to its demise and you know the warranty has not expired, then our Silver Star Plan is your best solution. Here’s how it works.

1. Write a note explaining the problem. Send the note, a check for $20* and your entire rod to St. Croix. We suggest using our Discount Shipping Program, which is described elsewhere on this page.

2. If your rod was damaged due to faulty workmanship, then of course we will cover the cost of the repair or replacement during the warranty period.

3. However, if evidence indicates that the damage is due to an accident, normal wear or neglect, then we’ll advise you of the additional cost to repair or replace your rod.

* The $20 s&h charge applies to shipments within the continental USA. The s&h charges for shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, and all other countries is $30 . The $30 fee for international shipments must be paid by credit card (VISA, MC, American Express, Discover). Checks from foreign banks are not accepted.

GOLD STAR SERVICE PLAN
Ahh..but what if you’re not registered as the original owner of the rod. Or your buddy stepped on your rod, or slammed it in a car door, or worse yet, used it to free a snag. No worries. St. Croix’s Gold Star Plan eliminates the uncertainty of a dubious warranty claim. Here’s what to do.

1. Return your damaged rod to St. Croix. You can use our Discount Shipping Program to save money.

2. Include a note requesting our Gold Star Service, along with a check for the Gold Star fee. Here are those fees:

$50 for any rod in these series: TRIUMPH, PREMIER (all series), MOJO (all series), EYECON, PANFISH, RAGE, RIO SANTO, TIDEMASTER, WILD RIVER

$75 for any rod in these series: AVID (all series), LEGEND (all series), IMPERIAL, BANK ROBBER, HIGH STICK DRIFTER

3. Upon receipt of your rod, our Service Technician will determine whether to repair or replace your rod. Keep in mind we’ll chose to repair it when we can make it perform like new.

4. That’s all there is to it. There’s no additional s&h charge for shipments within the continental USA. The s&h charge for shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, and all other countries is $30. The $30 fee for international shipments must be paid by credit card (VISA, MC, American Express, Discover). Checks from foreign banks are not accepted.

Shouldn't you have paid $10 for FedEx shipping and $50 each for replacement under St. Croix' Gold Star Service Plan? And where'd you get a seven foot long shipping container?

Never paid $50. Called them and put a check for $20 in the package for return shipping and a brief explanation of "How It Broke While Reeling In A Fish ". I haven't broke one in two years. They may have changed the policy since but I send them back through Newtown Bait and Tackle where I purchase them.

I believe your quote is the policy for a rod that has been neglected.

Actually the rods that were returned to me were upgraded models due to stock shortages of the ones I returned.

I have both in spinning versions. The Veritas is definitely more stout, but the Mojo I have is a drop shot/shaky stick where the Veritas is not. I like both and use both for different situations. The Veritas has a lighter feel to it so if you plan on doing a lot of casting that may make a difference for you. My Veritas is a medium action but fishes more like a MH to a H rod. I use it with 25lb braid and like that setup for the weeds and pads, also found it perfect for pike fishing up in VT, particularly in weedy areas. I always feel that rod can help me pull through almost anything. If they made in in a medium light I would purchase one to replace some of my other rods. I do wish the medium action had a little more give towards the tip and the exposed rod blank near the real seat isn't the most comfortable set up even though they say it allows a better feel for strikes. I think the Mojo is an OK rod and liked the sensitivity when I first bought it, but have since found several other poles I think would be better. My next rod will most likely be a Powell or Shimano. The Mojo has been a good rod for me but I think I got sucked into the St Croix hype. It's a lower end St Croix rod that I feel compares to many other brands in its price range. I use it most of the time and it has performed flawlessly. Both good choices in my book but i think you will find the Veritas is lighter and stiffer. Go to Cabelas and try them both out, they have both in stock. I would also suggest looking at Cabelas Tourney Trail / Pfluger President combo if you are looking for a decent deal. The combo is on sale now. I just purchased 2 for my daughters and we fished Lake George for a week with them. 4 and 5 lb fish in 30' of water with 6lb flouro were no problem and they were sensitive enough to detect slight strikes on a drop shot setup. Good reasonable combo IMO if you are not looking for high end stuff.

I wouldn't go with the mojo only because of the eyelets of the guides falling out every season. It happens with every rod a few trips into the season, and I've got enough mojos to know. It's the biggest problem I have with that line of rods. Besides for that they're good rods for the money, and they make it simple by having the technique specific rods which takes a lot of the guess work out of what you should buy for each technique.

I would suggest the veritas over the mojos. However, I would also suggest the St. Croix Triumphs over both of them for the price. You cannot beat the triumphs for 80$ - trust me you will fall in love with them. They really fish & feel like a much more expensive rod than they are. If you go to St Croix website you can use the mojo details page as a great guide for each specific technique you're looking to buy a rod for, then just get the same exact rod specs for the triumph. This will help you get the right rod for what you're looking to do if you decide to go with the triumph.

I've been using St Croix Mojo's for 6 years and never had an issue other than my own stupidity of leaving them in my truck. I fish three+ times a week. Candy, Lilly, Zoar ect so they're giving me my monies worth. The replacements I've received have been the newer models due to stopped production of the Mojo's.

Now watch when I hit Candy on Thurs! Something will screw up with each one.

That's exactly what happened with one of mine! That one's a candidate for the $20 Silver Star Service Plan.

As I mentioned in your other thread Rolling Eyes , I use Shimano Clarus (about $90), Compre (about $110) and Crucial rods (about $150), although they're all spinning rods. I like all of them. I feel very little difference between the Clarus and Compre rods. However, the Crucial rod is obviously lighter.

I'm not impressed by Shimano's warranty on rods, but haven't had a quality or design failure with any of mine; the two that I broke suffered abuse before they failed. Confused It's next to impossible to find the warranty information on Shimano's website. The packaging on the rods all mention a limited warranty with "over the counter replacement" at participating retailers, but I have yet to find one. Neither Cabala's nor Dick's participates.
