I thought there was now a limit cause of the netters taking so many?

There are currently no fishing restrictions on menhaden. David Simpson of the CT DEEP has indicated that public hearings on possibly enacting daily creel limits (say 50-100 fish per day) would be held this calender year but that has not yet happened. A limit would prevent cast netters from wiping out entire schools of bunker from a given harbor. Simpson is currently working with the ASMFC to reduce the commercial catch of menhaden along the Atlantic seaboard.

Please use common sense when you take bunker. Only take what you are going to use.
