Carp fishing is heating up with the warmer weather we have been having and my buddies and i have made it out on numerous occasions so far this year. We made it out as early as march and we were able to hit a few carp no bigger than 17 pounds. This month things have heated up and I was able to pull in a personal best 10 carp in one session. We have pulled in a good number of 20+ pounders so far this season mostly in the mornings. Im going to attempt to put a picture up for my first time on here hopefully it works.

Mike, glad to see ya finally joined and started posting.

Think these guys'll believe we use size 2? 4? Even a size 6 sometimes?
Trout sized hooks, fellas. Spend the extra buck and make sure you get somethin strong, like a Gamakatsu live bait hook, or the Owner Gorillas. Those will be the easier ones to find, rather than trackin down some of the ones we use...

I remember that day you hit 10 fish, Mike. You start boastin and braggin about it again while i'm at work, i'm comin down on my lunch break to cut your line...

Don't test me... haha Very Happy

Nice fish...thanks for the report!

One of the ponds I bass fish at and it has a few huge carp in it. I see them when drifting down the shoreline in my kayak. These carp look to be 4 feet long and travel in a small groups. They're right on the surface when I see them. What would be the best technique to catch these beasts? Weeds at the pond are quite thick on the bottom...would corn under a bobber work best?

I have caught carp using a bobber before, both with corn and with bread balls. I would recommend either a slip bobber or a very small bobber… they are very sensitive to line tension and will spit it out before you can set the hook. Look up how to tie a “hair rig”, it really does work much better than putting your bait directly on the hook.

If your seeing these fish at the top of the water im quessing your probably there sometime in the late morning or afternoons? They do alot of sun bathing when it starts getting hot outside its almost kinda funny that they do that but they do. You can try floating peices of bread at the top of the water with a small hook like my buddy justin described above. Also people do carp fish with bobbers personally all my carp fishing is off the bottum and i would do a little research on google or youtube as to what type of bobber to use for carp fishing. If you want to make the extra effort you could find a area u can casts in from shore and throw some corn in one area for a few days in a row and show up one morning and use a hair rig and cast some corn into that spot.
My buddy JustinSolak who commented on this feed just put up information on a carp in fishing day. If your available and at all interested in attending regardless of experience check out Justins post I believe its under the fishing partners forum and send him a PM for specifics.
