I heard a few weeks ago someone caught a 51" Striper at the Derby dam. He said he fished ther 18 days with plugs with not a hit and then that!

Tonight when I went fishing I saw schoolies running where I fish, but did not catch. They were out of range.

Can anyone please give me some ideas of where to surf cast in late Aug.? I am taking a friend out on the black hawk for his stag party. then we are going to stop to surf cast all the way back to Norwalk. If anyone can help me give him a great and memorable time i would greatly appreciate it!!!!!

Late August? Dude, that's the hardest time to find fish. You can surfcast anywhere then but if you aren't fishing the right tide well after dark in the right place you wont catch. I just learned where to find em myself after a long time trying to figure it out. I suggest you call some bait shops in the areas you will be traveling through to get the general idea.

Hi,

Try going out to the Norwalk Islands -> Beautiful area and there's a ferry that goes out to the islands!
Worth the ride just to check it out!

Also you could go to Stony Brook Village, NY -> Short distance south of Norwalk.
Village is beautiful + small shops/resturants, etc.etc.
Now that is well worth a ride!

You can check both out on line.

I started going there last year with the fly rod. Caught quite a few decent sized fish, biggest one coming in at 34"
