Yeah I think you're right. Has nothing to do with the spawn. |

I would check out Kenosia if I were you Elixir. This weather and how well I'm doing at a small lake tells me that those bass, perch, and crappie at Kenosia have begun. |

Anyone else catching any locally?
I read the guide online but, I have no idea when they are / if they have dumped any trout in areas in and around my town...
IS THERE some where on the guide or deeps site that has a date(s)? _________________

Hi phs,
Nope! They just say they have to get the fish out of the hatchery -> Never say where or what day they stock any particular waters.
I know because I've asked -> Only luck is to get behind and follow a stocking truck!

Once fishing season starts they usually tell you which week each place is getting restocked though. _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

So I "liked": the DEP Facebook page. I was really curious so I asked about the pretty much three week closed season, and here is the response I got.
Lakes and ponds are typically open year round. However, the general state wide season for trout is from the third Saturday in April through the last day of February, so lakes and ponds stocked with trout typically have a closed season. The closed season for trout is primarily due to both tradition and to facilitate trout stocking and maintain fairness.
Squantz Pond actually is a designated “Trout Management Lake” and has an extended March season (with a reduced creel limit and a minimum length for trout during the month of March). |
