We were accidentally catching them off the beach trying for stripers at low incoming tide on teasers end of last week. I think they were all shorts though. I know there are some big ones. Try using snappers w an egg sinker off the beach by the jetty closest to penfield pavilion |

I just got 7 snappers and have them in a pail with a bubbler. Going to the beach around 10:30 or 11:00 tonight to live line them. Will let you know what i get. Hopefully i don't get my rod yanked out of the sandspike! |

What kind of rig did you use with the live snappers? |

I used a 5/0 octopus hook with a 1oz slip sinker to keep the fish in 1 general area. Next time I'm gonna try a small bobber . |

I have been catching many 13-15 inch fluke the past few weeks. Fished from 2 to 5:30. Caught 2 small fluke, a big porgy and a 17 inch bluefish today. I missed a big run off a live snapper. Dang. |

Fished with live mummies again today. Caught one small fluke. The rest of the minnow were either picked off by smaller fish or eaten by crabs. Small schools of 17 inch blues are popping up in the area, but not much action with them. |

They are a minnow found in saltwater marshes and creeks and are easily trapped. They are also called Chubs, Choggies, mud minnows and killfish. |
