I really want to know how the pike tasted. Please let me know, Lax101. Flipper didn't sound too impressed with the taste of the pike he kept a while back, but it was a beat up, old looking fish. In any case, although I'd be inclined to keep a big chain pickerel, I don't see myself ever keeping a northern pike. Well, unless I were to release one that floats belly up, like Flipper's.

I love pickerel Phil. Some good video on youtube for filleting Y-bone fish, but it's a cramp and you end up with 4 strips and a lot of meat loss. I'd rather clean and skin 'em and cook them whole. They flake off pretty well then.

That's intresting that's not my ice fishing rig for pike but I fish with guys that use that sort of rig on their tip up. You caught someone's trophy they lost or released while ice fishing!
