Flipper didn't sound too impressed with the taste of the pike he kept a while back, but it was a beat up, old looking fish. In any case, although I'd be inclined to keep a big chain pickerel, I don't see myself ever keeping a northern pike. Well, unless I were to release one that floats belly up, like Flipper's. |
I love pickerel Phil. Some good video on youtube for filleting Y-bone fish, but it's a cramp and you end up with 4 strips and a lot of meat loss. I'd rather clean and skin 'em and cook them whole. They flake off pretty well then. _________________ Dave..... I can be a pain in the bass. |

That's intresting that's not my ice fishing rig for pike but I fish with guys that use that sort of rig on their tip up. You caught someone's trophy they lost or released while ice fishing! _________________ http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o21/PickerelPete/IfeH-r.gif |
