|
|
Caught my personal best Bass today fishing a local lake, now this lake is often trashed I actually was griping about it as I was walking down the shore of it because it was trashed. I often never catch anything but I go there to get my fishing fix.
I caught this bass using a 5" pumpkin senko(typically I don't catch much over 2-3lbs using a senko) the fish hammered the senko once it hit the water and I thought had a snag, until I felt the tug back. I knew it was a decent fish so I adjusted the drag and didn't want to horse it in, I was super pumped when I landed it. Had to fight off the bucket brigade asking me to keep it

Nice pig! Congrats on new PB!
I've been through the same thing many times in Bridgeport. Other people asking why I'm not keeping the fish and others wanting it. |

I really think out of ignorance people keep a lot of these big female bass, once I explained that it has eggs and should be released, they understood why I catch and release. _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

Sweet fish! Spot I went to opening day was pretty trashed, but between walking the shore with my waders and shimmying up a couple trees I found about fifty dollars worth of Rapalas. |

I almost hate tying on rapalas for fear of losing them on the first cast _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

Even though I love using Rapalas, one thing I hate about them is that those sharp VMC hooks easily make you get snagged and lose the lure, esp when fishing from shore. |

Great fish, how were you rigging the senko? Wacky or Texas? Haven't had much luck with either yet this year but it's still early. _________________ Proud Father, Husband and Paramedic. |

It was weightless Texas rigged. I have had some success wacky rigged in the pass but I am more confident with Texas rigged.
Not sure if anyone has had more success with one over the other _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

Wow, nice fish anointed. Guys, it is just me so far this year or are others finding the bass bite essentially non-existent as I am. Granted I'm up in the Torrington area where nature is lagging behind. The ponds up here seem pretty dead. So is it me???? I'm questioning my bass aptitude right about now so someone please talk me off the edge!! |
