Scorpio wrote: | Wow, nice fish anointed. Guys, it is just me so far this year or are others finding the bass bite essentially non-existent as I am. Granted I'm up in the Torrington area where nature is lagging behind. The ponds up here seem pretty dead. So is it me???? I'm questioning my bass aptitude right about now so someone please talk me off the edge!! |
The warmer the water, the better the bass fishing. Up in Torrington, I'd fish the bottom eight to 12 feet deep, although I'd also test out shallow laydowns in the afternoon. At Spring Pond in Avon on April 22, I caught three largemouth bass and missed two more, all shallow with a wacky Senko. On May 2, after the recent cold rain, I didn't get even a nibble. I would have tried fishing a jig deeper, but don't really enjoy doing that from a kayak.
Don't worry, the bite will improve as the water continues to warm. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Hey Phil! I fished a 1/4oz Bitsy Bug with Bleeding Hook in Black / Blue and Green Pumpkin with Orange and a Baby Paca Craw on Highland and did "WELL" Sunday
Looked for rocky bottoms. Wind was whipping. Had a hard time keeping the jig down. _________________ Don't hold your farts in! They travel up your spine to your brain and thats where shitty ideas come from. |

I've been fishing a 3/4 oz jig and trailer dragging the bottom where ever I've gone but nothing but a few taps. I haven't been out in the canoe yet so it's all been from shore. I suppose I'll have to hope for warmer temps. Thanks! |

I mostly use a green pumpkin skirted jig with a motor oil grubster trailer and usually have a lot of success with that. I'm going to try to hit a few spots after work today. We'll see... |
