Do you have to be a participant at CTFishTalk to fish these?
Want to know what my partner limitations are. Got a lot of friends and family who fish the Housy.
Put me in Partner TBD. |

Walt: Since it's my tourney and I'm making the rules,..I'm going to say that there is no requirement for number of posts etc....but you must be at least registered on the site to be able to fish it!
ps: Hope you don't mind if I follow your boat around all day, if you have a partner that knows the place! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

Mark,
That's my home lake. My son-in-law and a couple of the guys at my church fish it all the time. That having been said, unfortunately, I'm still not sure people want to follow my boat around.

Mark, I'll fish it. I don't know if I'll join in Walt's (PW) boat or fish it in my own boat yet. I have talk to him first.
As far as following the home lake guys around . . . it all depends on the day and attitude of the fish in that place. Two years ago I thought I found a consistant spot, but this past year I don't think I caught a keeper from there even though I tried it almost every trip. Challenging lake to figure out a pattern, but definitely a place where you can catch fish. |

No,..these are just my rules and reflect more the way I fish normally (ie. for a few big bites instead of a bunch of little ones!). I also figure it'll be friendlier to the fish and we'll kill less this way!
Also, your post is pretty non-commital,...do you want to be added to the list or not? _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

Heck Mark, I thought it was because you were familiar with the Housy and knew that a three fish bag there is considered pretty darn good!
As for a few big bites.. they're in there, I've seen 5# largemouth and 3# smallies caught there, but the average is far more likely to be in the 1-2# range. There are tons of them in there. I think it's because of the slot limit and the rule with the lake being a bass management lake.
I've fished a few 5 fish limit tournies in the fall they've had on the Housatonic. Bass managfement lakes cannot have tournaments in July and August. Out of 10 boats usually only 2-3 have a 5 fish limit. Last one I fished 4 boats were skunked. Like Ryan said it can be a tough lake, but that's what makes it such a challenge and to my way of thinking fun to fish.

Just an FYI, the Heart of CT has their open tourney on Lilli that day...may affect number of boats participating. |
