As bad as the fishing has been I didn't expect much when I tried crabbing this week. I was pretty surprised. I got out twice this week and managed a dozen keepers each trip. Was in a smaller river east of New Haven West of Ct river. |

How're you fishing for blue crabs? I've only dip netted for them from a canoe. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

I usually like to go along the edges of the river in the kayak and scoop them of the bank on a falling tide (you get a lot of soft shells that way). The ones I got this week though were with the hand-line & chicken wing technique. tug of war until you can get them close enough to scoop. |
