Went to Axle Shop Pond in Hamden around noon today. Nice sunny day. Heard there were trout stocked in the Mill River and hoped there were some that swam downstream. Never fished there before. Tried an inline spinner, plastic minnows, etc. No bites, nothing. But I did get some exercise hiking the violet trail to get there. Didn't see any fish in the water at all. Oh well. Decided to go to Clark's Pond down the road. Never fished here either. Caught a largemouth on an inline spinner that fit in the palm of my hand. After that nothing. Tried jigging, spinnerbaits, plastics, poppers. Nada. Headed home at 4pm. Disappointing day.

The DEEP announced on their FB page that they weren't stocking rivers and streams this Fall. Mostly due to the low water levels and drought.
