Tuesday morning I arrive at Seaside just after first light. Wind was a wicked 20 to 30 mph west and northwest, making it feel so cold with an athletic hoodie on.
Just after sunrise is when things started to happen. Once it was getting close to 9 is when action got busy. Nobody ever got into those fish.
Later while I was out at the rocks, gulls were very busy. I'd occasionally see some splashing and saw 2 guys on a boat throwing small spoons and landing small fish. After throwing all the topwaters I had with me, I decided to take the XRW-11 and do a slow walk-the-dog retrieve. That had small schoolies interested.
Hit the road around 1pm.
Total was 5 schoolies no bigger than 16"
Looks like now that water surface temps have gone down to 57 to 59, blues are gone and stripers are waking up. 1 guy got 2 keepers while pencil popping. |
