I feel as though I'm cheating when I use live bait. I'm not sure why. I typically only use crawlers when I take the kids out fishing. I think I feel like I'm cheating mainly because it seems easier. Does anyone else feel that way?

The only time of year I use nightcrawlers is when the water is cold and fish are very sluggish

crawlers are great for the kids, better off with meal worms.....they last longer

but there are many more effective baits that aren't "cheating"

try a black hair jig when the waters cold.......light weight, light line, slow presentation.......killer......and smallmouth or largemouth bass don't discriminate

Those are some nice fish! Try drop shotting gulp minnows. I use 6lb P-Line with 3" minnows. I've taken my granddaughter fishing on the boat with worm
and only catch pan fish. I taught her how to drop shot and she has a ball.

Drop Shotting 4" senkos I found also works well. The black hair jigs also work well but the granddaughter gets snagged constantly'
