I just picked up my first fishing kayak and am looking forward to the first trip. I usually am a salter, but want to start on an easier lake or pond and get my bearings before I take on more risk. Unfortunately, the first time I can go out is next Sunday. Anyone heading out next Sunday in the Shelton/Derby area and won't mind a newbie coming along? I can travel, so it does not have to be right near home.

If you have enough room for a second yak, once you feel comfy in the salt I can get you into the blues and stripers this fall.

Inner areas of Black Rock Harbor are mostly protected and don't get choppy much. Only thing is boats coming in and out, unless you're in a wider area away from the boat channel.

City park employees and police don't check for park stickers before Memorial Day and after Labor Day.

I'm very familiar with Great Hollow too if you want to catch trout and more

Thanks Michael. I will definitely take you up on your offer, once I am more acclimated to the yak.
