Hi everyone,
I was out fishing tonight and caught a small, strange fish I have never seen before. I have been fishing for 30 years here in CT and I have no idea what this fish is. It came out a small river (Pequabuck River to be exact) that the flow is extremely low. It has the color and markings of a LG mouth bass but the shape and mouth of a trout. If I can figure out how to post the pic that I took I will. Thank you in advance for any help you can give!

Good call! I just looked it up on wikipedia, it appears it is a "creek Chub." I have never caught or seen one before. Learn something new every day I suppose! Thanks again for the insight!

That would be a chubbyyy! For some reason I only see them summer time in the rivers near me. Not sure where they go but they end up there in the summer and rarely see em any other season.

About 2 years ago one summer evening a buddy and I were fishing ponds on a golf course and found 1 pond had aggressive creek chubs slamming our HJ-6 as we did constant jerking retrieves.

Funny you mention golf ponds, foothill pond in Hebron on rt 85 has really aggressive Creeks...especially using 6 lb line...these things got as big as a foot or so and they attacked anything I threw in.

I went 30+ years fishing in this state and never caught a "Creek Chub" till recently. I have now caught 3....from 2 different bodies of water. I reeled in 2 from the Farmington River this morning! Interesting indeed.
