With high at 8:00 pm and close to a new moon, a buddy and I went out on the longest day/night of the year in search for some big bass.

Left dock around 7:30 in search for bait. Cruised up and down cedar creek looking to mark some bunker, but could only find small bunches about 15ft down. Worked them for about a half hour to only manage to snag 2. With outgoing starting to pick up, we decided to take what we had and chunk.

We setup outside the harbor in about 18 ft of water down-current from the structure between Fayerweather and 2A. Right after sunset, we started to hear splashes all around the boat. Before we knew it, three HUGE schools of bunker had snuck up on us from all sides, and it wasnt long until we started hearing big splashes of bass/blues underneath them. With two livey's out and chunks drifting in the current, it wasnt long until we had our first hook up. 38" striper.

The bait stayed around til around 11:30pm, but we didn't get one run after that fish. There were bass breaking the surface on bunker literally 15 ft from our boat for THREE HOURS, and we couldnt hook up at all. Tried throwing pencil poppers into the schools. Tried jigging between them... Nothing.

We called it quits around 12:30am and headed in. It was great to see so much life out there, but very frustrating not to be able to hook up while these fish were feeding all around us.

Nice job on the 38" bass. Appreciate the post and great to hear bait is back in town. If I ever get out there, I'll be sure to post
