I havn't had many issues with "cabela" made rods.
A quick story noncabelas rod related... 3 of us bought the same diawa rod. 1 of my buddies broke his the day we got it on a small bass. My self and my other buddy use and have ours to this day. We bought them 3 years ago.
Of course read the reviews, dont just look at cabelas look on others sites that sell them, youtube and of course this forum. ALWAYS do this before you buy it.
You said you had already bought it, if you were concerned about the bad reviews you shouldnt have bought it.
I have only ordered 3 rods and they all were decent. I believe I either bought just a rod or a cabelas tourney trail rod / reel combo many years back.
Are you getting this from cabelas? Is this this EVA model for $40 OR were you getting the nonEVA rod/reel combo.

If you get the combo and dont mind traveling I will buy the reel off of you. _________________

Thanks for the response mr. Perfect.
I actually only saw the reviews for the combo which was great but then when I bought the rod I looked at the rod reviews by itself which were not so great.
I am going to try it out and see if I like it.
The president reel is actually why I bought the combo, I have another president and it is great. The drag is smooth as butter. It's very solid. _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

LoL I figured that.
As much as I dislike walmart more and more every year...
I found a nice $17 rod a couple years back and so far picked up 2 of them.
I just recently broke one ONLY because someone partially stepped on it and when I went to cast a heavy lure the last eye broke off.
I dont know how much nor need to know (unless u want suggestions) how much you spend on rods BUT if you dont like the cabelas rod, I'll message you the info on the rod from walmart _________________

I owned that exact rod and snapped 2 of them. I ended up upgrading to a Shimano Sellus. I own another Cabela's rod and it's great, so whatever they're using as a blank for those split grip Tourney Trails is garbage! _________________ Join the yak pack! – www.connecticutkayakanglers.com / http://connecticutkayakanglers.bigcartel.com |

I have had two of these for a couple of years now with no problems. I did hear that the tips break easily, and did break one at Cabela's when testing one out, I guess that one made it to the bargan cave. I use all different kinds of baits on them with pretty good luck.
