Tuesday afternoon I hit the Remington sandbar as the tide was still going out. Low tide for Bridgeport was scheduled for 3:44pm and arrived around 1:30pm. Setup was a 7' M Sea Striker SS700/Fierce 3000/14 lb Sufix Performance Fuse.

Lures I tried throwing included blue mackerel SXR-12, blue chartreuse SSP-12, croaker SSP-9, chartreuse bone XRW-13, chartreuse ghost XRW-9, and mullet SRNR-8.

One other surfcaster was there throwing larger topwaters with a taller rod but neither one of us got any hits or swirls.

Next stop was over by the anchor and casted in towards the harbor but nada.

Went over to the flats at the Fayerweather jetty where I caught the 29" keeper. Decided to stick with the SSP-9.

As low tide was getting closer I had an explosion but didn't set the hook. Saw what was either a 30"+ keeper or a gator blue jump face first out of the water and go back into the water face first. Once the tide started turning I get another explosion and set the hook. This fish felt like a blue from all the head shaking. It gave me 4 short runs and kept on pulling hard. Got it in after a 5 minute fight resulting in a 24" perfect 6 pounds. Before tide got too high to stay out there I landed an aggressive 17" schoolie.

Once the tide had gotten higher I headed over to the boat ramp but nada. One thing that went wrong at the boat ramp was I slipped on a large patch of seaweed on the ramp and slid on my left leg resulting in rocks causing a tear in my nylon waders.

I was getting hungry and had had the bluefish out of the water for a while so I decided to start making my way back. Stopped at Breezy Point but the tide was still too low. Checked out the discharge at Remington but nada. Saw 2 surfcasters on the sandbar but they weren't getting anything.

Headed back downtown around 6pm

Ya always gotta leave it to the Skitter Pop for a nice catch or a productive day

Bluefish are my favorite fish to go for and I love my blues!!!!

Bluefish Buster loves to bust those blues!!!!

I'm CRAZY for blues!!!!

I want my blues!!!!

I'm desperate for blues!!!!

Please Please Please!!!!!

If you take a look at the background of the pic you'll see how nice the water was.

Between it being a common workday preventing boat traffic and the wind was a light 5 mph southerly flow, that water was so calm and comfy.
