Tuesday afternoon I hit Seaside Park right around the turn of the tide. High tide for Black Rock was scheduled for 4:09pm and got to the ramp just after that. Had the 8 foot setup with me.

Bunker were splashing farther inside towards Captain's Cove and the channels which meant wait for the tide to keep heading out. Didn't get any swirls or explosions on any topwaters I threw so headed over to the Fayerweather jetty and Island.

Waters were choppy on the beach side due to a steady 10 to 15 mph east and southeast wind when NWS was original predicting south and southwest winds around 10 mph for the area. Tried casting into Black Rock Harbor from the jetty and sandy area of the island but had no luck. Also tried casting into the entrance to the harbor towards St Mary's from the lighthouse but nada.

Headed back over to the ramp now that the tide was going out more. Bunker were much more active in that area but got the snagger stuck on a rock. Didn't get a single swirl or explosion even if I casted alongside a thick school of bunker.

Last stop was Breezy Point. The big issue was the east wind. Plus, drizzles and a steady light rain was approaching and I had shorts and a t-shirt on with no rain gear. As sunset got closer and light drizzle had started, I saw pods of bunker being chased out of casting range, even if a surf caster was throwing a 3 ounce pencil popper with a 12 footer. I waited for a while seeing the rain wasn't too bad but the fish and the bunker never made it close enough, rain had picked up, and the east wind wouldn't stop.

If only there was a southerly flow instead of the steady east winds, I could have seen those fish pushing the bunker closer to shore.

Made it back out today and arrived at the ramp as the tide was getting closer to high but saw many people throwing bunkers chunks so I didn't bother.

Headed over to my usual area of the rocky stretch and saw a flock of gulls circling an area. Lures I tried throwing were mullet SSP-12, chartreuse bone XRW-13, bunker XJS-13, and pearl grey shiner FLR-16 with no luck. Wasn't seeing any splashing either.

Next stop was Breezy Point. The issue in one certain area was lots of those weeds people use for fires while chunking. Went to another spot and threw those same lures but nada.

I took a dinner break Downtown and then went to check out Remington. 2 usuals were there casting and both said there hasn't been much happening there yet this spring. Saw 1 chummer throwing mackerel but he wasn't having any luck. I didn't get any swirls, followers, or explosions either. No tails bitten off of the soft plastics one of the guys was throwing.

As I made my way back over to Breezy Point I saw pods of bunker being chased inside the harbor. I could have seen somebody with a bigger rod and heavy pencil popper getting to them but I didn't get anything.

Fished Breezy Point til the police closed the park at 8:30pm. I saw those pods of bunker out there again like I did Tuesday but ones that were being chased didn't start moving in more until after the police closed the park.

Last stop was Remington to see if any night bite has turned on yet. 2 lures I stuck with were the SSP-12 and FLR-16 but nada.

Hit the road just before 9pm

Nothing much has been going on closer to shore except for bunker occasionally being pushed to shore at the beach. That's when you need to be there at the right time. We're hoping for a July like we had 2 years ago, which was loads of tailors chasing the peanuts and silversides inside Black Rock Harbor and at Remington.

Too bad these areas are shut down at night. Sounds like they could be good.

This area is definitely productive at night, and with water temps rising FAST, I'm predicting the day action to slow to a hault.

Water temp yesterday out at Fayerweather light was 64.0 F. That's warm for this early in June

I helped run my Father's new boat up from Norwalk to Capt Cove and we must've run over 30 gigantic schools of bunker on the ride up. When we pulled into our slip the bunker were literally thick as soup, right at the dock! Lack of bait is definitely not an issue.

Remington and the discharge is open 24/7 even though it's connected to Seaside Park and the Remington plant and parking lot is city owned property.

July 2012 is when many of us were having a lot of fun with tailors up to 6 pounds inside the discharge with smaller plugs from an hour before sunset and into the night. That was when there were lots of silversides and peanut bunker around.

As of now, the only area around Remington that has been holding more fish is the current coming from the discharge. That would mean either boat or longer rod and heavier lure while wading on the sandbar.

With today being Saturday and nice conditions outside, boat traffic was an issue at the ramp so I didn't stay there.

As the tide was still coming in I checked out Breezy Point. The issue there was 1 and 2 footers due to a steady 10 to 15 mph west and southwest wind.

Stopped by the straight facing out towards the inner harbor and saw a number of chummers there. One guy caught a 37" 22 pound keeper with a live bunker. That was the only catch I saw there and throughout the day.

We were seeing many of those dark waves and suspicious markings on the surface in the harbor. I tried casting with my 8 foot setup and the SSP-12 but nada. One of the usuals tried casting with a heavier pencil but nada.

I went over to check out Remington and saw a few chummers there with 1 usual. All were having no luck and I didn't get anything on the SSP-12 and FLR-16.

Did some laps back and forth from the stretch to Breezy Point but never got into anything no matter what I threw. Did however get a swirl on a bone chartreuse XRW-13 out by the anchor facing the harbor. That was when I saw a suspicious wave making its way in and then do a circle back out.

Gulls were working Pleasure Beach and the areas by the breakwater and Breezy Point where I've been seeing those bunker in the evening. Many boats were just outside of the main entrance to the harbor away from the ferry route while the birds were active.
