Last week Mansfield Hollow was clear not much weed at all. Went out last night, the ENTIRE lake is one giant massive weed bed. Some sort of invasive seaweed of some sort has completely taken over this lake. Does this happen every year? No wonder there was nobody out here, there isnt a chance a motor boat could make it through any of this. |

The conditions on that lake change faster than seems possible. The first time I went, the water level was so high it covered the ramp and the culvert to the lower part of the lake was almost completely under water. When I went back a few days later, the water level was so low that it was below the bottom of the ramp.
I guess it's a paddling lake, now. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

A local lake had little to no weeds a week ago, went there yesterday and every rock was covered with algae and weeds flooded the shallows. Are the weeds you're talking about the slimy/stringy stuff? It covers the milfoil and everything its near. _________________ YouTube Channel: NorthEastFisherman |

The technical term is eutrophication. The nutrient load is way too high in the runoff that flows into our waters. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

No this isnt the slimey stuff that kinda looks like green hair??? these are full blown weeds, that run from the bottom of the lake to the top. One solid vine that goes from bottom to the top with 'small weed branches' that come off of it. It would be impossible to boat here now. |
