Low tide for Bridgeport was around 3:30pm and conditions were forecasted to be mild and sunny with a steady west wind. Arrived at the Remington sandbar around 1pm with my 7'6" Inferno/Fierce 2000/10 lb Spiderwire Stealth setup.

As the tide kept going out, lures I played with included purpledescent BXM-10, chartreuse ghost XRW-9, purpledescent FLR-10, spotted minnow SXR-10, purpledescent SSR-9, glass ghost CNM-11, shad SP-9, and smelt BXM-10.

I never got any hits, swirls, or followers as I fished for about an hour.

There was 1 local I saw casting from shore with his soft plastics but he didn't get any hits. Reported a poacher who kept 2 shorties as I got back to my bike.

Once I was back on my bike and tide was still going out, I headed over to Fayerweather.

The west wind wasn't worth casting into Black Rock Harbor in the area I waded in October last year, even though I still tried.

I switched sides and fished the sandy flats by the beach but nada.

I headed out to the rocky piles of Fayerweather Island but the wind wasn't cooperating.

Once the tide was starting to turn, I decided to check out the sandy flats again but no action and took a dip when I was carefully walking back to the jetty.

Last stop was the city boat ramp but didn't stay there too long cause the water was murky and weedy.

Saw 3 ospreys gliding near Remington but they never dove down. Gulls weren't thick. Never saw any cormorants, loons, or mergansers. No signs of egrets around Fayerweather. Saw a fisherman in his small aluminum casting and trolling in Black Rock Harbor but never saw him set the hook.

Kudos to you for calling the DEEP on the poacher. I have made 3 or 4 calls this year myself but have not seen a response yet.

do you guys have the contact info for the right guys to call when we see poaching?

a buddy and i fished short beach on outgoing tide on Saturday afternoon and there was a chump with a red and white fishing rod catching schoolies on sand worms (south of where the usual crowd is) - once hooked up he'd reel them in and then turn his back to everyone and stuff the fish in his jacket. then would re-rig and repeat the process - we approached him and he did not say one word back the whole time just stared back like an idiot. anyways would love some justice if anyone has a recommendation.

Mike, well done reporting proachers. The number we should all have stored on our cell phone is 1-800-424-4357. I enjoy your posts. Keep them coming.

For those who fish Fairfield County, I have the direct cell phone # of the local warden saved on my contacts, which means you can report it directly to him instead of calling the 1-800 #.
