I got to test the 2 of them and found 1 of them to be too flexible with not much force, which was the one I thought I had more confidence in. That one was a Sea Striker Beach Runner ML. I'm not fond of IM-6.
Sold that rod and traded it for a 7' Star Rods Aerial Surf/Jetty ML, which was delivered today.
My 8 footer is a Star Rods Aerial Surf and have fallen in love with it after comparing it to 2 other 8 footers, which is what made me get the 7 foot 1 piece version of it.
Swiped the other 7'6" rod and the new 7' Aerial to compare them.
The Aerial feels like it sure has power! Solid, stiff, powerful graphite with just enough flexibility. Made me think of comparing it to some strong person flinging their middle finger hard at a Cheerio or swinging a lightweight solid aluminum pipe down at the road before it bounces back quickly.
The 7'6" rod I decided to hang onto is lighter than the Aerial and a bit more flexible, but doesn't seem to have the power, force, and solid action.
Still gonna compare the 2 of them. |

I got to use my new 7 footer today while casting with light Rapalas and 10 pound heavy duty mono and catching schoolies.
I found this rod to have excellent power in all directions and even though I didn't have as many hits as Jeff did, I set the hook on most of my hits easily.
This is the 1 piece light powered surf rod I'm hanging onto. |
