|
|
Arrived at the Pequonnock River at Beardsley Park around 9:15am on Opening Day. I was surprised not to see a big crowd.
I hit a number of spots and played with many Rapalas but never got a hit or follower.
Later I went to the Trumbull Rd bridge which is where I caught a small 9" brookie and had 4 followers.
Headed back down the Pequonnock to a certain spot but nada.
Headed up to Unity Park where I had 3 followers and missed out on a nice trout that looked about 2 pounds.
Finally I had had it.
Other fishermen weren't having much luck and most fish were no bigger than 11".
Looks like the state did a small stocking. |

400,000 trout is a small stocking? _________________ Don't hold your farts in! They travel up your spine to your brain and thats where shitty ideas come from. |

Just throw out a handful of pellets. Every fish in a 100yd radius will think it's feeding time. _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.

I was at all the spots you just listed as well, and me and a few buddies of mine did pretty well. If you really wanted to get on the bite you had to go at 6, but I fished all the way up to 4:30 at unity, beardsley, and twin brooke, and did well. They wouldn't touch powerbait, and had a few hits on the spinners. The pin minnow and trout magnet was the winning ticket. |

Stick to the stripers Michael. Way more fun than stocked trout. _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.

Mike,
Might just be the fishing gods throwing you a bad day fishing! You have been on fire for two weeks. Law of averages. |

Pretty good action in the Pachaug River system. I'll agree they have become a little wise to the Rapalas. All my fish came off of an Al's Goldfish or good ol' powerbait. |

curious if that fish was caught and released onto the stringer to be eaten at a later date? _________________ Trust me. Use waxworms ! |

After the fight, we put it on a stringer and let it stay in a calm area so it could catch it's breath. Took this quick pic and took it back to the pool from which it was caught. Held it in the current to get water flowing through gills until fish was kicking good and my buddy ,me ,and 10 other guys there, watched it swim away. At no time was it on it's side or belly up. 100% caught and released. |

I have yet to see a picture of a seeforellen trout. They look so much better than the breeders. |
