After seeing all the posts about the housatonic river and stripers I thought how it'd be pretty sweet to catch stripers from my kayak. So with a little studying up and a lot of help from Peco's posts (thanks!!!) I decided to give it a go with my dad today. We started off old oronoque road.. Hugeee mistake, we tried paddling up river but simply couldn't compete with the outgoing tide so picked up after an hour of wasted time and went to Wooster island area. I think we got there around 9? Boats everywhere so we knew something would've happened.
Everyone around us were getting fish but us. So once the tide changed everyone left for some reason but we sticked around. At 12ish I got my first ever from a kayak striper 17". Those little guys fight really well on light tackle!! Kept on throughout the day and caught 4 total for me largest 21" and 8 for my dad largest 25". Dragged the bottom with pauses and twitches.
Great day to be out, after noon the weather was real calm and warm so we enjoyed our stay! _________________ YouTube Channel: NorthEastFisherman |

I enjoy catch those stripers with light tackle. They put up a fight for their size. |
