The waters not frozen. How is northern pike fishing this time of year in open water. Are the fish active, will they hit lures, live bait, ect...

I Was thinking about trying Chapmans pond, the mouth of the Mattabesset and the coves around Hartford.

Pike are very active in cold water, and especially those spots your talking about, last year around April i pulled out a 49 inch pike around the Cromwell area and she was beauty, also got a couple more ranging from 25 to 39 inches. if i knew how to post pictures i would show her off.

With how cold the water still is for this time of year, I'd recommend using live bait.

I always hear people talking about big fish in Cromwell, I fished this a couple times in the fall to no avail.

I believe this is the spot they are talking about.

Yes that is the spot on google maps where i have caught the pike. It just has to be good conditions for the pike to bite. But i will try to post a like to see the picture.
