Headed out to the striper spot Saturday hoping the whole place would be open and thinking it would be a good day due to steady west winds, low pressure, mild temps, and cold front approaching.
Fished for about 2 or 2 1/2 hours through mid afternoon and into the evening. Setup was the 7' medium power Okuma Tarvos/Penn Fierce 2000/10 pound Spiderwire Stealth.
After 5 or so casts at the first spot, I got a hit but didn't set the hook. Later I landed a chunky 27"er that took 3 short runs. Felt about 8 pounds.
Did my usual spot to spot while I was there and later got into a school, resulting in another 6 schoolies ranging from 21 to 25" all weighing about 6 pounds. 1 other was 18". Also had 2 other hits and lost 1.
All of a sudden the bite died, telling me the cold front had just moved through and the fish stopped feeding. Spent another 30 minutes or so and landed 2 more schoolies.
All fish were chunky and healthy. Champion was the usual FLR-10. |

Wade, you might enjoy Italian. My grandparents spoke most Italian to, or more accurately, at each other. They elevated cursing to a level on a par with literature. It was almost musical, and with the physical gestures needed to fully express oneself, you could elevate cussing in Italian to an operatic status. _________________ Herring? |
