Time for panfish, been doing really good on BIG yellow and white perch in small ponds/lakes with jerkbaits/grubs/silver buddy

Headed out to brave the COLD tmw mid morning with member zorro for some more punishment, by this time next week I wont be fishing- all my ponds will be iced over. Looks like il be on a few small ponds by the week of or before chirstmass. Yes, ice fishing. Laughing

Tips- target transition points from chunk rock to mud/silt. Weeds are a plus as well as steeper shorelines. Catching the majority of my fish in 12-16fow with a few stragglers up in 6fow where the bass should be. Water is 39-40....

Fish were caught this morning, 4 yellas and a white. Too cold for even my tastes after an hour of 17degree weather. Openwater is done for me, no desire to fish big lakes and the snow today will help lock up small lakes.

Btw, marked 37.1degrees on my bowmount for a water temp 3 feet below the surface. Surprised iced in ramp and the ice was SPREADING.

Went out yesterday for the FINAL trip. Jerkbaits for pickerel/bass with a final tally of 4 pickerel nick, 3 pickerel and a bass for anthony. The two biggest pickerel went 25-26inches and a 3.5 and 4lbs. SLOBS.

We then went for trout, skunkaroo from shore.

Then back to my perch spot with livebait on a dropshot rig and caught 30+ yellas, whites, crappie, and 2 bass on minnows and silver buddy. The day ended with me dropping my crucial/sahara or whatever it is combo overboard in 15+ fow.... I dunked my hole arm in and couldnt grab it. Fished it out with a buddy before it was too dark. Rolling Eyes Sheer luck.

Good end to the open water.

Ive heard of safe ice up north (winsted area) and will be heading up to fish a small pond on 5inches+! of Good stuff. Head northwest and I imagine woodcreek is SOLID.

Good luck, many a flag, and stay safe!

nice job Nick. Good thing you were able to retrieve you rod/reel combo, that would have sucked.

Nice fishin' Nick & Anthony. Good to hear you were able to rescue your combo- that would have sucked big time.

Nice job catching fish. A few years back I went out for one last trip toward the end of november. Broke one fishing pole by hitting the trolling motor while casting. Just before we left, dropped a pole overboard by accident and wasn't lucky enough to find it since the wind was blowing so hard it was hard to tell where it went overboard. (I think my hands were numb from the cold). Since then I pack it in early.
