If you were to compare ice conditions on smaller lakes and ponds in northern Fairfield County to southern Fairfield County and match it to the weather currently going on and lasting into Sunday, will there be a chance for a good thawing?
Rain all day tomorrow with up to a half inch and high 53 for my area. Mostly sunny with high 50 Saturday. More rain Sunday. |

Hi,
Hmmmm?
With all the ice and snow .... I'm expecting the oxygen level in the lakes and ponds is pretty low by now.
Think there might be a fish kill off due to lack of O2 .... Time will tell .... If we see a lot of bloated floaters once the ice starts to melt ... then that will be the answer ! |

I recently went on a journey to check out 3 places.
I couldn't believe I saw 2 to 4 inches of white ice still covering the ice out pond 
Mondo Ponds still had 1 to 3 inches of ice with some open areas wherever there was a strong enough flow or shallow cove with sunlight. 
The funeral home pond still had 1 to 3 inches of ice except for open water in shallow areas where a brook feeds in.  |

| I was drilling 12 inches of black ice in westchester county today with 5 inches of white on top that. Areas in the NW hills have 15 inches easy. |

i was on a solid 6" of ice walking distance from i 95 this weekend. It's there , you just gotta look.

Over a foot on candlewood. Even more on mt tom. Probably even more than that on smaller ponds. That rain and warm weather really helped get the snow off the ice. Give it a day or two and the slush crap will refreeze and the ice will be good.

| Some nice cold temps this week...I'll have to get out this weekend. Does anyone know of any bait shops that carry replacement Mora blades? Preferably in NH / FFLD county. |
