Sorry for the misleading title. This post is to ask any striped bass fishermen to consider checking out the 1@32 Pledge Facebook page. Basically it is a group of concerned fishermen pledging to take no more than one striped bass per (day, week, month, year) at a size of 32" or greater. It's a way for fishermen to begin policing themselves and limiting their take while the body that governs the regulations continues to wait on making a change. Even if you're not on Facebook, please consider taking this pledge as a "drop in the bucket" approach to striped bass conservation. |

Sounds good to me I dont keep any fish, what really pisses me off is the hundreds of scum bags that flock to the CT river every spring in the Hartford area and keep EVERY fish they catch legal size or not. _________________ catch/picture/release |

Whenever I keep a legal striper I always make sure it's no bigger than 35" and that it's a chunky one.
I feel as if CT should go back to the reg they used to have bout 10 years ago. |

It seemed like the regs changed all the time back then. It was always one fish per day, and I remember 36", 38" and 41" being the minimum size. If the legal size was one of these, so many more fish would go back into the water. |

The one I'm talking about is the 1 fish in the mid and upper 20s and 1 fish over 35". |

Wade, this isn't about who catches what size fish. I know you release most of your fish, too. |

I'm a big fan of the 1@32 pledge. I like many on here, release most fish caught and don't want to condemn those that keep their fish within legal limits. The goal of 1@32 is to spread the word to as many forums, websites, tackle shops etc., to VOLUNTARILY limit stripers kept. I know this is not a solution, but I believe it to be a step in the right direction.

This. Seems like striped bass fishing has a tendency to attract a lot of the wrong crowd. |

Every year I find tons of people at Seaside Park and other areas of Bridgeport keeping striped bass of all size.
This 1@32 thing doesn't sound like it will help. TONS of poachers everywhere who don't care and don't want to learn. |

For the assholes who poach, I go with the 1@$154. That's the fine per fish. Screw 'em. Not worth the altercation. Just call the DEEP, and if your lucky, watch 'em get busted. _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.

2 big issues are I'm standing around 4 or more poachers and the DEEP is very low on ENCON officers.
There's only 1 officer I know of who patrols Fairfield County daily. I've had times when I've called the TIPS line and it's been over a half hour with no officer in sight. Next thing you know the officer finally arrives but the poachers have already left.
Bridgeport police only worry about serious crimes and don't want anything to do with the state. |
