I rely on others with an auger while I always have my tip ups in a milk crate and jigging setup hanging horizontal in a room, which means I'm usually ready to go.

Haven't been on here in a long time....but it's getting cold and I am hoping for safe ice by this weekend or early next week. Time to take out my rigs and ready them for some hardwater action...

The snow sucks, we have a stretch of great ice making temps and have to deal with this crap. Pray for freezing mix overnight and less snow, may help.

Well I rather have snow on some black ice then snow freezing up with the water and having that cloudy much less safe ice.

I remember the last two years
between the snow
and mild temps melting the top of the ice
drilling through the "ice" sucked.

You would start drilling and bam break through a couple inches under that would be either water or some slush crap then bam back to some ice.

Hope pray cross your fingers for less snow then they predicted.

If I was able to get on the road today I would check the ice at a local pond or two before any more snow comes down..

NWS now calling for the freezing rain to turn over to all rain by sunrise Sunday. Total accumulation for here in the North End around half an inch. I can just imagine how this rain will impact the snow and frozen lakes and ponds together!

Extended forecast shows mild temps close to 50 later this coming week with overnight lows hardly getting below freezing. Rain is in the forecast during that period.
