Hit the spot again starting around 2pm Wednesday. Setup this time was a 7 foot Okuma Tarvos/PENN Pursuit 3000/Sufix 10 lb Tritanium. Stuck with the FLR-10 mostly as I played with a few other lures.
First few casts resulted in a 25 and 26 inch schoolie. After that not much was happening until it got closer to sunset.
As sunset arrived and it was twilight, I landed a 17", 28", and chunky 28.5".
Hit the road right as it was getting closer to dark.
All stripers came on the legendary FLR-10 |

I think the bigger girls are coming up to feed only at night, right now. We got nothing but 20 inch schoolies, today. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

What do they feed on now? Will bunker or mackrel chunks work? |

I really don't know anything about fishing with bait. I fish for stripers in the Housy with five to 7-1/2 inch flukes on 1/2 or 3/4 ounce jigheads. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Understood. Would it be a problem for you to send me a picture of those flukes and jigs you're using? Perhaps a whole rig for them too? Thanks a lot |

Here's a photo of a typical lure:
That's a White Pearl Zoom Super Fluke on a 3/4 ounce Kalin's Ultimate Bullet Jig. When there isn't much current or the schools are suspending well above the bottom, I'll use a lighter, 1/2 ounce jig, instead. Today, I tried White Pearl/Chartreuse Zoom Salty Super Flukes for the first time and they worked great, too:
In my admittedly limited experience, the schools that are right on the bottom tend to feed more readily than those that are suspending. I typically let my jig fall to the bottom before starting my retrieve. Different retrieves work at different times. Today, a jerking retrieve with long pauses seemed to get the most bites, usually on the pause. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |
