|
Low tide for Black Rock Harbor was scheduled for 12:51pm and NWS was calling for south winds. I had a feeling conditions were going to be perfect for the 7'6" F&S Inferno/Penn Fierce 3000 setup with lighter lures making sure I still had my waders. Arrived at the parking lot just before peak high.
Headed out to the spot that has been producing during peak high tide finding nice conditions with winds steady around 8mph ranging from the south to the southwest. Once I got there and started by throwing the pearl grey shiner FLR-10, I was into those schoolies in no time! I was getting hit after hit and landing one after another! By the time the tide had gotten lower and fish moved I had landed 20 schoolies up to a very chunky 18" 3 pounder! Most fish were chunky 16" 2 to 2 1/2 pound fish with a few as low as 14" and as high as 18". Those 16, 17, and 18" schoolies sure had torque and horsepower in them!
Later as tide got lower it turned into a topwater game. 2 lures I stuck with were purple shad XRW-13 and stainless steel gold mullet Saltwater Skitter Pop SSP-9. Landed 7 more schoolies in the same size range with 3 coming on the XRW-9 and 4 on the SSP-9.
Started heading back to shore around 5pm.
11/6/13 marks the most productive day I've ever had surf fishing. Total of 27 schoolie stripers ranging from 14" to strong, aggressive 18" fish. Champion was the FLR-10. |

I have 2 7'6" setups both with the 10 pound Sufix. I'd be happy to bring both with me so you can use one. |

You'll see us closer to 1:30pm. High for Black Rock Harbor is 3:48pm and the winds are supposed to be those good southwest winds preventing rough conditions. Just gonna be kinda cool out tomorrow. |

You didn't miss out on anything Clint. Birds were very quiet and Jeff and I never had a single swirl, hit, or follower no matter what we threw. Loons weren't active cruising up and down the rocks either.
A buddy from Seaside called me letting me know that he and his cousin never got into anything earlier in the day from top to bottom and only saw 1 flock of gulls active farther out. |

even if the fishing was slow...i could've done my brakes AND replaced the other wheel bearing as nice as it was
i'm hoping that HUGE school of bass kept hugging the shoreline...heading west!..TOWARDS ME!
maybe i can sneak off tomorrow and fish westport or norwalk

I always say, I'd rather be busy keeping the store clean or unloading the trucks instead of having a bad day of fishing. |

especially when you get paid and have heat in the winter and AC in the summer. _________________ ...Randy...

You got that right
It's either fun fishing action, roaming around on a miserable day, or being kept busy while using energy, concentrating, and being paid at work. Top it off with a garlicky dinner and a good night's sleep. |
