Pike are my goal for the Fall, on the CT River. Currently, I've got a host of Crankin' Raps that go to 7'-8', some traditional spinner baits, a bucktail Meps #5 and a 3/4 ounce Daredevil spoon. What am I missing? Thanks.

I use a wire leader with both.Black with mono and black with braid.12 or 18 inch. 30 lb.They don't seem to care when a lure goes zipping by them.They jusy attack on impulse.I don't think silver would be a problem either but,it does flash in the sunlight.The black would be less of a distraction in my opinion.

All good stuff already mentioned. I've got several Spro swimbaits and other big perch, bluegill or baby bass lures. I throw big sticks like the Diawa or Yozi crystal minnow types as well. I typically fish with a heavy mono or flouro leader and don't have problems with break off. I just have to check after hits and sometimes tie on a new section. My favorite technique is a crossover from saltwater big game trolling. I'll have a liveline or two out while I cast to areas. If I get a swirl, miss or follow I'll have a free swimming jumbo shiner rigged and ready in the livewell and pitch it out. Almost always end up with a pike attached in seconds. I'll be fishing the CT River later in October and as long as it stays ice-free.

| Lot's to choose from but I love larger plastics like 7 fin-s (arkansas shiner) and white houdini shads. The 5 of diamonds is my favorite spoon. |

Soft plastics work as well....yes.
Only problem i have found...They get mangled!
Also like the rapala BXM 10 but,the soft wood gets chewed to $H!T!!

I've been using a Green/Yellow Koppers LIVETARGET Frog (Hollow Body) for a while and it has held up better than any hollow body frog I've used:

wont a pike destroy a hollow belly frog? - if that's not the case, how to you fish them for pike? just in the weeds or weed edges? what kind of retrieve, and how fast?
