Took advantage of the nice weather saturday. Got out a little before 9. Started trolling from the ramp. Saw some splashing by condos and got some fresh snappers for bait. Nothing else on stratford side. Crossed over and got the first schoolie on a swimbait. Pretty good action for a few hours there. Got a dozen or so schoolies trolling and casting. Biggest was close to 24" on the T&W.
Action slowed a little before dead high so we went out to try to get some big guys in deep water. DEAD DEAD DEAD!!!! (well for blues/striper) this is pathetic.
had like one or two hits on the snappers and chunks in 50+. Was able to get some almost keeper seabass and porgies out there which is a lot better then the usual 4-10" seabass.
Left there around 2 to try deeper like someone said last week lots of fish in 70". Well tried a wreck in 80ft and even more dead. Not even a touch on anything and tide was running also at this point.
Decided to take a look in milford see if anything happening but nada. Got a couple porgies and seabass by the mansion. Tried trolling around the island and nothing.
Back to stratford and more action on the schoolies again on the other side so that was good.
Ended up with probably 2 dozen or so fish with 3 or 4 over 20".
At least we can salvage a day with some nice schoolie fishing. Bluefishing just keeps getting worse and worse. I sure hope blackfish will be around.[img][/img][img][/img] |

I agree about how bad the bluefishing has gotten within the past 3 to 5 years.
I used to have many days throughout the summer and into the fall where I'd be catching tons of tailors on anything I threw. These past few years have been very slow and it's been getting worse. |
