There are all kinds of genetic defects in this world.
Like Crest Daddy stated that one's a toss back.Even if there's nothing wrong with still being able to eat it.Do you really want to take that chance? Very Happy

I caught this sunfish at Lake McDonough, yesterday. It had growths on the back of its dorsal fin, its tail and its anus:

It fought great, Michael. Well, for a sunny, at least. Laughing It helped that I hooked it in fairly deep water, about 15 feet down. I even measured it for you. Wink It was only 10 inches long, but it was also really fat and weighed 11 ounces. Very Happy

10" 11oz pumpkinseed is rare in CT, unless you're fishing a private lake or farm pond.

Pumpkinseeds are more aggressive than bluegills and put up a good fight. Current state record is 1 pound 3 ounces and any pumpkinseed 8"+ or 8 ounces+ is considered a trophy seed in CT.

Due to their pretty colors, pumpkinseeds are also considered an excellent first fish for children.
