|
I went out on Candlewood for the first time the other day. I went with Paul Mueller from www.paulmuellerfishing.com . I had never been to the lake and figured being such a big lake I should go with someone who knew the area. I have to say I was not disappointed.
We put out at about 7 am and it pretty much started pouring as soon as we launched. This was kind of a blessing in disguise though because it basically meant we had the lake to ourselves. I only saw a few boats all day. We concentrated on fishing deep and it payed off.
Before this trip my pb smallie was about 3.5lbs. I broke that early with a 4lber and later beat that again with a 4.25. Most of the bite for the day was smallies with one large and a few perch mixed in. Here is a few pics of the larger fish.
All in all it was an amazing day and I cannot wait to go down there again. |

Nice, you can bang big smallies in the ctriv doing that too, especially around main river points that have little eddies on the downstream side |

I'll have to give this a shot. Need to get my hands on a boat 1st though. Little rough on the river in the canoe at times. Thanks for the tip though |

Looks like a nice day of fishing even with the rain. Sometimes paying for a little knowledge can make all the difference in the world. |

Congrats on the new PB smallie. Very nice fish! Looks like going with a guide was worth every penny. Did you go out for 4 or 8 hours? |

Started with 4 and a plan to play it by ear with the weather. It ended up clearing up so we turned it into 8 hours. |
