That absolutely is a northern water snake.I was only stating that there are also still Timber rattlesnakes in Connecticut.Although,they are on our endangered species list.There are 2 kinds of venomous snakes in Connecticut.I worked for the Bristol Regional Environmental Conservation Association (BRECA) as well as Indian Rock Nature Preserve for quite a few years when i was younger..
When it comes to Reptiles and Amphibians in Connecticut.I am right at home.
I've even caught the only kind of land lizard in Connecticut which is a protected species.The 5 lined skink.A guy from Uconn came to my house,tagged it by clipping it's toes.Then had to let it go EXACTLY where i caught it..At the time i had discovered a new colony.The belly on a Northern water snake will be red,white and black speckled.Also caught a baby copperhead about 12 inches long.The tip of a babies tail is yellow and fades away as it grows.
