So,i returned.Today i went with the coffee scented green pumpkin weedless rigged Goby made by Strike King.I started in a tiny back cove and instantly had action.
I made my way around the back hitting different openings.
When i got by the back of the small island i hooked into this nice 2.4lber.
Then a couple of small ones around the other side of the island.
I made my back and picked this little guy where i had just caught the bigger one.
I. moved to the point that is in the back and took a few casts with no action.
I finally took off the Goby and tied on the spook from yesterday. As i was doing that i noticed something chasing small bait near the edge of the weeds.I made a long cast and gave it a quick couple of twitches.
Then,SLURP! my spook disappeared.I felt a heavy tug as it dove into the weeds.I took my time and slowly dragged and reeled a now 20-30 lb mat of weeds. It stopped about 3 feet from shore so i had to step in the water to pull it in.I was uncovering it and saw a nice big bass in there.I weighed this one at 3.14 .I was very happy with that one.
I hit the road after that.Didn't think i would top that today.
Good day today.9 bass and 1 pickrel.

Thanks. I was surprised when i caught that big one.Tons of small ones in there but fun anyways.Usually, there are loads of pickrel this time of year.It will be interesting how the action will be now that they are stirring up the place looking for that gun.
I noticed 3 big grass carp there a while back. They must be having a ball with all the food being stirred around.
I hope i run into you there sometime.

You can use just about anything.Just rig it weedless/texas rigged.
You can use topwaters if you whip them out past the...AHH CHOO!.When you get to the edge you'll snag up.
Your ultra-light is not recomended.I use a med/heavy so. i can pull any fish through all the mess floating out there.I'm pushing it with only 8 lb mono.Braid has only got me deeper in the mess but, does make it easier to pull them to shore.
