| Went to upper housy. waded and caught over 40, yes 40 smallmouths and 1 fallfish. all on lures. they would hit about anything but i did get 2 nice sm at same time on a black and gold rapala swimmer, been fishing for 50 years never did that before. |

Awesome trip. My buddy had 18 with his kid in just a few hours in the Cornwall area.. It's heating up big time! Hope to get up there this week. How high up were you fishing?

| My buddy and I fished the Kent stretch last Monday and got 42 smallies in a couple hours time. Great time up there! |

| I have no experience fishing the Housy but it sounds fun. I don't have a boat either so I was wondering, can you fish from shore and, if so, where are the best spots for that? |

From Bulls bridge to the Falls village dam there are access points where you can shore fish. Between route 341 in Kent and Dawn hill road below route 4 on the western shore there are many access points from shore.That is a bass management area so if you catch any trout in that area...You can keep them.
I've caught smallies,rainbows,carp and pike in that area.
ALL on......... LIVE CRAWFISH!

Crawfish are the smallies main food now, but if you can't get live bait, you can throw crawfish lures, cleos, mepps and so on. I'm planning to fly fish some next week with frog poppers and crawfish imitations, as well as a few other large patterns.

As RNA mentioned above.Also,i have had very good luck with a Thomas Buoyant in silver (nickel ) OR Gold with red in it.
As for crawfish.You SHOULD find plenty under the rocks along shore.
If you find any pools that have been cut off by low water levels.CHECK THEM!
Cast up river, let your bait/lure sink and let the current swing your lure/bait down river.If you find a long section of shallow rapids,fish the pools just before and after them.The BIG BOYS like moving water that brings the food to them.
If you're using crawfish and see some carp,don't be afraid to toss your bait to them.You may be pleasantly surprised that they'll take it off the bottom.

| Seeing you mentioned crayfish is the main pattern right now, what would you say about throwing a F-7 or FLR-6 in colors such as Gold, Gold Florescent Red, Bleeding Copper Flash, and Brown Trout? |
