Senkos are my # 1 bait to throw then its jigs or tubes. If I am fishing Lake Pocotopaug its senkos or tubes for big smallies. But I did catch a 29 inch walleye on a senko last year there. Shiners if I am ice fishing for walleyes. Thats the only time that I ever use real bait. |

Senkos by a long shot, I've caught so many bass on them there should be a law against them. . After that, bass jigs and then tubes. |

I like floating crawfish beaver baits by Float It plastics. They float with a hook.

I too like to use swimjigs. I catch more fish with those in early morning and into dark but I like using the floating craws more in the day time on the bottom.
The swimjigs do work great along the weed lines. |

Same here, Shiners. I usually only use live bait with newer fishing folks and the wife. I don’t get why it takes a while for folks to get a real zone and feel for fishing with artificial bait. I have caught all fish on all kinds of bait (fresh water). Shiners, hands down for bass. Took my brother in-law for a whole summer to teach him (until he flipped the canoe and now won’t go lol) I caught 133 bass and he caught 48 bass in 3 months from the same pond and only fished it once a week. He was not ready for any kind of artificial baits or maybe fishing at all lol. It was a rough but a lot of Bass summer. _________________ Tight Line and Loose lips.

I hope people understood my "really" comment towards live bait.. I Think it was almost an "elitist" comment to make... use what ever you want to catch fish whether it be live bait or lures.. I don't think the comment he made was necessary, that's all. |

Ditto. Your preference for a method or technique of fishing is just that; a preference.
Although I prefer fishing with artificial lures, there have been times when I've wished I had some bait with me, like when I couldn't get a bite while I watched fishermen with nightcrawlers hauling in dozens of white perch. And if I were to ever to fish for catfish or carp, I'd definitely use bait. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |
