Saturday I headed down to Seaside Park and started off at the Fayerweather Island jetty. High tide for Black Rock was scheduled for 5:09pm and arrived 3 hours before high. Conditions were steady 5 to 10 mph south and southwest winds with partly cloudy skies. Bridgeport Harbor buoy had been reading 75 degree water surface temp. Setup I brought with me was a 7'6" Okuma SST Salmon Spin/Penn Sargus 4000.
Black Rock Harbor had lots of weeds and shit floating and the water was murky. Tried casting in one area that didn't have much floating but had no luck.
As tide was getting higher and I was still out on the jetty, winds picked up and became gusty up to 20mph turning up the waves. I had no luck on the beach side of the jetty niether.
As I worked my way towards Breezy Point, I saw the rocky stretch didn't have much to it due to all the weeds and crap.
When I got to Breezy Point there were chunkers throwing mostly mackerel. All they were getting were sea robins even though one got a chubby 14" striper. I tried throwing a few divers and a Krocodile but no sea robins were interested. One chunker was throwing a double rig with squid and had his line snap when he was trying to land a double, which was a short fluke and a monster sea robin.
Saw one of the usual pluggers when I walked over to Remington. He said he and others weren't into anything and bunker have left the harbor.
Hit the road just after 5pm |

Are you actually trying yo get Sea Robins to bite? I try everything I Can to avoid catching them. If the are is loaded with them I won't even throw a small swimmer! I'd rather fish all day and get skunked then catch them. _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

If there's nothing else out there I'd still like to have some action with sea robins |

I remember a time when things were dead and i resorted to catching snapper blues.Just to have some action.I bet there are quite a few fishermen that would rather catch something instead of nothing. _________________ ...Randy...
