Nice. Thanks for the update. Looks like an ebb tide all Sunday from 5:00-11:00. I might fish that way Sunday.

Went out to take a look this am. Never fish west of the CT. Picked up a striper trolling a big Danny metal lip bunker pattern off Cornfield, then ran to Clinton harbor. It was full of bunker. Didn't really know the area so I just poked around some of the rips south of Duck Island and Crane/Hen and Chickens. Wasted most of the tide and only landed 2 more fish, both under 20, but it was decent recon. I made a run to more familiar ground, as I had a bunch of live bunker, but the tide had completely crapped, so I started in around 10ish. I've got a buddy that fishes out of Westbrook all season who's going to take me out in next week and show me some of his productive humps in exchange for my doing the same out east. Didn't see any birds flying or schools of blues. Water was full of crap. Headed out with my brother tomorrow. Pressure is on to put him on fish! Very Happy

Bunker was right in between the cans in the middle. Also came back across a lot in the mouth of the CT east of the breakwall. Were you netting right outside the breakwall around 5:00am? I'm thinking of launching at Baldwin tomorrow and looking for bunker in the mouth. Also saw a decent FB post from Blain Anderson catching stripers on the flats in the mouth yesterday on topwaters. May throw a few on the way out.

Yes we were netting on the outside of the break wall. In going back tomorrow 3am to nett again. Might run to Bartlett's and give a shot. Haven't tried there yet. I fished Clinton. Today it was slow. 6 bass to 20 pounds.

Do you run a blue twin engine Contender? One was right behind me in the Baldwin takout. Didn't notice 'til the boat went past. Better than our day. My brother came up from Philly, and we got skunked. No gill net, and without a concentration of bunker, I couldn't snag any in the mouth at around 5:00am. Headed west to Clinton again. Got down there and couldn't spot any bunker. Decided we would just have to cast lures for the day. The second we tried to move, fog rolled in. We had 100ft visibility. This was like 6:30 in the morning. We crawled back to Saybrook as I didn't want to get run over in my skiff. It sucked. Threw some topwaters on the flats. By 8-8:30 we were going to call it a day, but the fog started lifting. I decided to take a peek at Long Sand. Nothing. Not a bird in the air. On the way back in, lo and behold, big bunker all over. We debated whether to snag as few as the tide was crapping out, and ended up grabbing a half a dozen. We ran over to Hatchet's, but had no tide. I threw one on a line and let it swim. We sat there for forty minutes and drifted a few yards. I told my brother we weren't likely to do much until the tide got going, which meant waiting, and he wanted to get on the road. I started ditching the rest of the baits in the livewell. As I dumped the last one, I caught a big swirl out of the corner of my eye. I just provided a free meal to a big striper. I quickly reeled in the last bait and pitched it in the area. It was taken in about ten seconds. I let it run for a bit then engaged the reel and came tight. Fish took off down the edge of the reef. It broke me off in the rocks. That was it. Day over.
