Got out of work and got on the lake at 4pm. Headed to the west end of the lake from boat launch of rt 354. Started throwing my go to soft plastic and on the 3rd cast hooked a largemouth around 2lbs. seems the fish were on the edge of the flats where it drops off to deeper water. 10 t0 14 ft. Continued the drift along the west side and landed a few more bass in the same weight range. Spotted an Eagle in a tree and enjoyed a few moments watching him until he flew away. Fished the north cove area and landed a nice 5 pound bass. Ended the day before T STORMS moved in and headed back to the launch. Great time and looking forward to heading back soon. |

I grew up across the street from the eagle nesting area in suffield and man seeing those apex predators cruising around with that giant wingspan parallels a giant hook set...almost |

I was there the day before, and they were killing the frog on the edge of the weed beds. Missed the 5lb fish, but knew you were coming |

I grew up in Salem before recently moving to Stafford and have fished Gardner Lake many times as a kid and not once did I ever even get a bite. Don't know why... I used everything from spinners to rubber worms to crank baits but never anything.
Yet, I would come back to the boat launch and see people bring in fish all day long.
Have you ever fished Mitchel Pond just west of the 4 corners, or rather round about now on Route 82? It's a nice little pond and I've always pulled some good SMB and LMB out of there.
I'm going to go visit my parents this weekend and might swing though GL and see what I can drum up! _________________ Proud Father, Husband and Paramedic. |

Drop me a note and i can put you on some fish. I am always in the area, and would not mind providing some good pointers on the lake! |

I would say its a no go, but i always fish it from a craft. That would be a yak and a friends boat. After being out on the water i would use a float tube before fishing from shore. Hook up with anybody from this site for a ride and it will be a LOT better. Best time to go is night now with all the boat traffic and people making tons of noise. I would say the same about rodgers, and most of the other popular bigger lakes. On the other side ice fishing is supposed to be great!! I dont ice fish. |
